Start with soft, even light
Stand facing a window during daylight, with the light in front of you rather than behind you. Turn off strong coloured lights. Check that both eyes and both sides of your face are visible. If sunlight creates hard shadows, move away from the window or use a sheer curtain.
Keep the camera at eye level
Use the normal camera setting, hold the phone around eye level and leave space around your head and shoulders. Avoid ultra-wide lenses, close-up angles and screenshots of screenshots. Ask someone to take the photo if holding the phone distorts your pose.
Use recent photos without filters
Choose images that match your current hairstyle, facial hair and glasses. Turn off beauty filters and avoid strong portrait effects that erase hair or facial details. If you normally wear glasses, keep them on and angle yourself to avoid reflections covering your eyes.
Choose a small, consistent set
Forma accepts 1–3 photos. Start with a clear front-facing image, then add a slightly different angle or expression if helpful. Use photos of the same adult person, without other faces. Avoid mixing very old and recent photos or images with conflicting appearances.
Check the upload before generating
Supported uploads are JPG, PNG and WebP, up to 10 MB each. The browser resizes photos before sending them. Inspect the preview: if the face looks blurred or tiny, select a better source. Purchase credits before uploading so a checkout redirect does not interrupt your selection.
Review the result against your reference
Compare eyes, smile, nose, ears, hairline, skin tone and glasses. Discard images that change defining features. A sharp or attractive portrait is not automatically an accurate portrait. AI headshots are not suitable for identity verification or passport applications.
